Karue Sell, a prominent tennis YouTuber who returned to the professional circuit in 2023 is now ranked world No. 259. He has repurposed his YouTube channel, which previously focussed on coaching, into a vlog documenting life on the Challenger and third-tier ITF (International Tennis Federation) tours, and late last month questioned the rationale behind the ATP’s changes.
At some Challenger events, finalists only get half the points of the winner, whereas there is a more even distribution at the higher levels of the sport.
“I’ve had so many conversations with players/coaches this year regarding the drop in points in the Challenger tour and nobody seems to understand the reasoning behind it,” the 31-year-old Brazilian posted on X. “There’s a general feeling of protection of players already top 100.”
